Market Surveillance Agency of BiH and market
inspections of the BiH entities and Brčko District of BiH completed joint
market surveillance of hand-held engine driven grass trimmers. This is one of the two product groups covered by the Order on the safety of machinery
(Official Gazette of BiH, 04/10), that were subject to surveillance carried out
in 2021. The aim of the market surveillance was to determine
whether the hand-held engine driven grass trimmers placed on the market of
Bosnia and Herzegovina are safe to use.
During the implementation of proactive surveillance, 12
inspection controls were conducted and 9 models/types of hand-held engine
driven grass trimmers were controlled. It was found that 3 models/types of the trimmers (27%)
do not comply with the safety requirements of the Order on the safety of
machinery and they pose a risk of injuries to users.
Competent inspection bodies ordered temporary withdrawal
of the non-compliant products from the market until the non-compliances are
removed. Economic operators removed the non-compliances in 3
types of the non-compliant trimmers (total of 287 products), while 1 product
was withdrawn from the market and destroyed.
