Market Surveillance Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina and competent inspection authorities of the Federation of BiH, Republic of Srpska and Brčko District of BiH have carried out market surveillance of toy guns with bullets during the period from 1st March to 17th September 2025.

According to the Law on General
Product Safety (Official Gazette of BiH, 102/09), a manufacturer shall
place only safe products on the market. Toy guns with bullets are safe in terms
of their mechanical and physical
properties if they meet safety requirements specified in the Law on General
Product Safety (Official Gazette of BiH, 102/09) and the BiH standard BAS
EN 71-1+A1:2019 - Safety of toys - Part 1: Mechanical and physical properties.
During the implementation of market surveillance activities, 9 models of toy
guns with bullets were taken from the market of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The
laboratory testing showed that 3 models did not meet the requirements related
to tensile testing. In addition to that, 8 models did not have an accompanying
warning about the potential danger of aiming at the eyes or face.
Within the market surveillance of
these products, 2,178 non-compliant toy guns with bullets were withdrawn from
the market, of which 2,031 were destroyed. One model was brought into
compliance (total of 321 products).
