During the period from November 2021 to February 2022, Market Surveillance Agency of BiH and market inspections of the BiH entities and Brčko District of BiH completed joint market surveillance of pressure cookers.
The main objective of the surveillance was to
determine whether the pressure cookers on the market of Bosnia and Herzegovina
are safe to use. In order to place pressure cookers on the market of Bosnia and
Herzegovina, they shall be safe in accordance with the Order on pressure
equipment (“Official Gazette of BiH” No. 52/11) and the safety requirements
specified by the standard BAS EN 12778:2007.
During the implementation of proactive surveillance, 8
inspection controls of pressure cookers were conducted. Inspectors performed
administrative control of instructions for use and product markings, as well as
visual inspection. 7 models of pressure cookers were controlled and
non-compliances regarding the instructions for use and product markings were found in 3 models. By
order of the inspection bodies, economic operators withdrew 1 model of
non-compliant pressure cookers (total of 4 products) from the market and
destroyed them. Either voluntarily or by order of the inspection bodies,
economic operators removed the non-compliances in 2 models of pressure cookers
(total of 4 products).
Based on the results of surveillance, it can be
concluded that compliance of the pressure cookers on the market of BiH with the
requirements of the Order on pressure
equipment is satisfactory. Nevertheless, we remind importers and
distributors that they are obliged to provide all the necessary consumer information
and, above all, complete instructions for use written in one of the official languages
in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
