inspections of the BiH entities and Brčko District of BiH completed joint
market surveillance of hand-held electric disk grinders. This is one of the two product groups covered by
the Order on the safety of machinery (Official Gazette of BiH, 04/10), that were
subject to surveillance carried out in 2021 and early 2022. The aim of the market surveillance was to determine
whether the hand-held electric disk grinders placed on the market of Bosnia and
Herzegovina are safe to use.
During the implementation of proactive surveillance, 8
inspection controls were carried out and 7 models/types of hand-held electric
disk grinders were controlled. Laboratory tests showed that 1 type of disk grinders
(14%) did not comply with the safety requirements of the Order on the safety of machinery and it posed a risk of
injuries to users.
Competent inspection body ordered temporary withdrawal
of the non-compliant products from the market until the non-compliances are
removed. Economic operator removed the non-compliances in the
non-compliant disk grinders (total of 21 products) in accordance with provisions
of the Order on the safety of machinery.
