A representative of Market Surveillance Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina attended the 40th meeting of the AdCo PPE group

A representative of Market Surveillance Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina attended the 40th meeting of the Administrative Cooperation Group of market surveillance authorities of the European Union member states in the sector of Personal Protective Equipment (AdCo PPE).

At the meeting, after the greeting and introduction of participants, the organization and competencies in the Latvian market surveillance system were presented.

After that, the representative of the European Commission in charge of personal protective equipment informed the participants about the ongoing activities in the field of personal protective equipment surveillance, the work of the Expert Group for personal protective equipment and the updating of the European Commission's website regarding ​​legislation and market surveillance of personal protective equipment. The Chair of the AdCo PPE group informed the participants about EUPCN meetings, meetings of AdCo groups’ chairs, the updated AdCo meetings Guide, the Guide for preparation of Market Surveillance Strategy and availability of the data from customs information systems.

The participants discussed the validity of the existing EU type-examination certificates after the standard revision. The representative of Finland presented the results of market surveillance of the equestrian helmets. The representatives of France presented several topics for discussion, including categorization of paragliding seats with back protection, finger guards for cutting, protective caps for water polo players, diving helmets for underwater walking and equipment for protection against electromagnetic radiation. The representative of Norway presented the report on market surveillance of protective equipment designed to protect against falls from a height. Afterwards, the Chair informed the participants about status of the joint action on market surveillance of personal protective equipment.

On the second day of the meeting, the representative of the European Safety Federation (ESF) had several presentations and discussed the application of the Regulation on general product safety and the Regulation on personal protective equipment with the participants, as well as acceptance of online or paper format of instructions for use of personal protective equipment, the decision tree, grey areas in the sector of personal protective equipment, destruction of products that have not been sold (implementation of the  Ecodesign Regulation), online sales of personal protective equipment and the planned events organized by the ESF.

Next, the representative of Norway gave a presentation on footwear for protection against electrical risks. The representative of Ireland had a query for discussion on the format of instructions for use of personal protective equipment. The representative of Germany informed the participants about a case from Germany regarding protective equipment designed to protect against falls from a height. The representatives of the Netherlands gave several presentations and discussed the application of the RAG ECL risk assessment form, the equipment for taking people and equipment out of the water and the surveillance of full-face diving masks with the participants. Categorization of the equipment for climbing trees with crampons (spikes) was discussed at the suggestion of the representative of Austria.

At the end of the meeting, a tentative date for a new AdCo PPE group meeting in 2025 was determined.
