Market Surveillance Agency of
Bosnia and Herzegovina and market inspection authorities of the Federation of
BiH, Republic of Srpska and Brčko District of BiH have completed joint market
surveillance of electric hand-held mixers. This is one of the five groups of
electrical products covered by the Order on electrical equipment designed
for use within certain voltage limits (Official Gazette of BiH, 98/09) that
were subject to market surveillance in 2025.
The aim of the surveillance was
to determine whether electric hand-held mixers that are available on the market
of Bosnia and Herzegovina are safe for consumers to use.
During the implementation of market
surveillance, nine (9) inspection controls were carried out and electric
hand-held mixers found on the market were controlled. Inspectors performed
administrative and visual control of the products. Based on that, they selected
seven (7) samples for laboratory testing, due to the suspicion that these
products do not meet all the safety requirements that apply to them. Laboratory
analysis determined that two (2) samples (29%) did not comply with the safety
requirements of the Order on electrical equipment designed for use
within certain voltage limits, and they pose risk of injuries and fire for
consumers.
Risk assessment showed that the
two non-compliant samples pose a serious risk to consumers. Accordingly, the
measures of withdrawal from the market, recall from consumers and destruction
of the products were ordered, as well as the obligation to inform consumers
about the risks that the products pose to users and how to return dangerous
products.
In total, 264 electric hand-held mixers were withdrawn from
the market and destroyed.
