Market Surveillance Agency of BiH and market inspection authorities of the Federation of BiH, Republic of Srpska and Brčko District of BiH completed the joint market surveillance of hand-held electric orbital sanders. This is the proactive surveillance of products covered by the Order on the safety of machinery (Official Gazette of BiH, 04/10) carried out by the Agency and the competent inspection authorities in 2025.

The main objective of the surveillance was to determine whether the hand-held electric orbital sanders that are available on the market of Bosnia and Herzegovina are safe for consumers to use.

During the implementation of proactive surveillance, 7 inspection controls were conducted and 5 various types of hand-held electric orbital sanders were tested.

It was determined that two (2) controlled types of products (40%) did not comply with the safety requirements of the Order on the safety of machinery and they may pose a risk of injury to consumers.

Competent inspection authorities ordered the economic operator to take measures of temporary withdrawal of the non-compliant products from the market until the non-compliances are removed.

The economic operator brought one type of the non-compliant hand-held electric orbital sanders (total of 119 products) into compliance with the provisions of the Order on the safety of machinery. The non-compliant hand-held electric orbital sanders (total of 7 products) of the other type were withdrawn from the market and destroyed.
