Proactive market surveillance of protective gloves against mechanical risks completed

During the period from 1st October 2024 to 11th August 2025, Market Surveillance Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Federal Administration for Inspection Affairs, Republic Administration for Inspection Affairs and the Inspectorate of Brčko District of BiH have carried out joint proactive market surveillance of protective gloves against mechanical risks.

Safety requirements for protective gloves are provided for by the Order on personal protective equipment and accompanying standards, so administrative checks and laboratory testing of products were carried out in accordance with these requirements.

The objectives of proactive surveillance were to assess the state of the protective gloves market in Bosnia and Herzegovina from a safety perspective, to remove from the market any products that could pose a risk to users, to increase consumer safety, and to raise awareness among importers and distributors about placing safe products on the market.

During the implementation of proactive surveillance, 11 inspection controls were carried out, which were based on administrative checks and laboratory testing of products. A total of 9 models of protective gloves against mechanical risks were inspected. Out of the total number of products inspected, 4 models of protective gloves were compliant with the Order on Personal Protective Equipment. 5 models (55,5%) of protective gloves were non-compliant (total of 2,464 products).

Economic operators voluntarily brought 2 models of the non-compliant protective gloves (total of 2,405 products) into compliance with the provisions of the Order on Personal Protective Equipment. Also, the economic operators voluntarily withdrew from the market 3 models of protective gloves in a total quantity of 59 products, of which 24 were destroyed.
