4/24/2026

56th meeting of the LVD AdCo group (the Group for administrative cooperation of the EU market surveillance authorities in the field of low-voltage equipment) was held on 21st April 2026 in Krakow. A representative of Market Surveillance Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina attended the meeting.

The meeting was hosted by the Poland’s Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK), and it was attended by 28 representatives of market surveillance authorities from 23 European countries. The ongoing activities of the EU market surveillance authorities in electrical product safety were presented.

Among other things, the participants were presented with the market surveillance system in the host country, the results of the fog machines surveillance project carried out on the Dutch market, as well as the latest results of the joint market surveillance action of the EU countries called "Electrical products with hot non-functional surfaces".

Plans for future campaigns that should be implemented in 2027 were also discussed, including: control of electrical products available on large online trading platforms (within the wider JACOP2027 project), control of lamps for outdoor use, as well as continued control of products with hot non-functional surfaces. The strategy, stages of implementation and preparation of documents necessary for implementation of the campaigns were also discussed.

Within the topics related to legislation covering safety of electrical products, participants discussed electrical products with hot functional surfaces, as well as the need to clearly define situations in which such surfaces are justified by the product's function and those in which they present a risk of burns to users. After an extensive discussion and taking into account the results of the joint action to control products with hot non-functional surfaces, certain changes to the existing standard EN IEC 60335-2-9 - Particular requirements for grills, toasters and similar portable cooking appliances were proposed.

During the part of the meeting dedicated to specific technical issues, the problems of measurement uncertainty in laboratory tests were discussed, as well as shortcomings in the applicable harmonized standards, with a special emphasis on the standard for circulation pumps.

In addition, it was pointed out that a new version of the standard EN 50075 - Flat two-pole plugs, 2.5 A / 250 V, with a cable for connecting class II equipment needs to be published, bearing in mind that the applicable version of the standard was published back in 1990.

A significant part of the meeting was dedicated to the presentation of individual cases of dangerous electrical products that were withdrawn from the EU market in the previous period.

In the final part of the meeting, a representative of the European Commission shared experiences from the EUPCN network meetings held in the meantime, and a brief overview of the activities from the meetings of the related EMC AdCo group (the group for electromagnetic compatibility) was given.
