A central CEFTA database on unsafe and non-compliant products was established by improving the SEED+ system for the exchange of electronic data between CEFTA members, with the aim of facilitating trade and strengthening regional economic integration.
The database enables a quick and
efficient exchange of information about products that do not meet the
prescribed safety and compliance requirements, which further improves the cooperation
of competent institutions and the efficiency of the market surveillance system
in the CEFTA region.
As part of these activities, the
CEFTA Secretariat and the Market Surveillance Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina
signed a License Agreement for the use of the local database on unsafe and
non-compliant products.
The local database is an
important tool for supporting market surveillance activities in Bosnia and
Herzegovina by enabling record-keeping, monitoring of measures taken and
management of data on the products covered by proactive and reactive
surveillance.
Also, the local database is
automatically connected to the central CEFTA database, which ensures a
continuous exchange of information between CEFTA members.
A system like this contributes
to faster identification of risks, more efficient withdrawal of unsafe and
non-compliant products from the market, strengthening of consumer protection,
and further improvement of regional cooperation and the process of European
integration.
