The 9th meeting of the Subcommittee on Internal Market and Competition, including health and consumer protection between the European Union and Bosnia and Herzegovina was held in Brussels on 9th June 2026.

Within the part of the meeting
dedicated to consumer protection, the representative of the Market Surveillance
Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina informed the representatives of the European
Commission about the existing legislative framework in the field of general
product safety in Bosnia and Herzegovina, regarding the questions of the
European Commission related to implementation of the Regulation (EU) 2023/988
on general product safety and future integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina into
the Safety Gate system.
During the meeting, the
representatives of the European Commission informed the delegation of Bosnia
and Herzegovina about the news regarding the EU acquis in the field of consumer
protection and future legislative activities and pointed out the need to align
the legislation in Bosnia and Herzegovina with the relevant regulations of the
European Union.
The meeting was significant for introduction
of the new requirements and expectations of the European Union in the field of
consumer protection and the obligations that await Bosnia and Herzegovina in
the process of further alignment with the EU acquis.
