During the period from 16th March to 3rd August 2026, Market Surveillance Agency of BiH and market inspection authorities of the Federation of BiH, Republic of Srpska and Brčko District of BiH carried out joint proactive market surveillance of portable gas stoves and burners using disposable gas cartridges.

The main objective of the surveillance was
to determine whether the portable gas stoves and burners using disposable gas
cartridges on the market of Bosnia and Herzegovina are safe to use, i.e. whether
they comply with the requirements prescribed in the Law on General Product
Safety (Official Gazette of BiH, 102/09) and the standard BAS EN
521+Cor1:2020.
As part of proactive surveillance activities,
12 inspections were carried out. These inspections included administrative
checks of the instructions for use, product markings and other product information,
visual inspection of the products and laboratory testing of samples. A total of
7 product models were inspected, and non-compliances were identified in all 7
models. The following non-compliances were found:
- the information
provided in the product markings and instructions for use did not comply with
the standard BAS EN 521+Cor1:2020,
- the markings on
the products and their packaging, as well as the instructions for use,
maintenance and assembly were not provided in one of the official languages in
BiH,
- the
instructions for use, maintenance and assembly were missing.
Either voluntarily or following an order
from the inspection authorities, the economic operators withdrew 2 product
models from the market and destroyed a total of 145 products. For 5 product
models (a total of 3,094 products) the economic operators removed the
identified non-compliances.
Although no serious risk for consumers has
been identified on any of the controlled products, based on the results of the
surveillance, it can be concluded that the compliance of portable gas stoves
and burners using disposable gas cartridges on the market of Bosnia and
Herzegovina is not satisfactory. Therefore, we remind manufacturers, importers
and distributors of these products that they are obliged to provide consumers
with all the necessary information, in particular, complete instructions for
use, which must be provided in one of the official languages in BiH, as well as
the appropriate markings prescribed in the standard BAS EN 521+Cor1:2020.
