Market Surveillance Agency of BiH prepared an unofficial translation of a Guide to Corrective Actions Including Recalls - applied in the EU, in order to help economic operators (manufacturers, authorized representatives, importers and distributors) in case they have evidence that one of their products is unsafe. The Guide covers all types of corrective measures (not only recall from consumers) taken by manufacturers or distributors in order to eliminate safety risks posed by non-food products they have placed on the market.
The Guide serves as a guideline to economic operators for the implementation of corrective measures, including recall, and it identifies activities and procedures which will improve efficiency of implementation of the measures. Many of the procedures are covered by national and European legislation. The Guide does not describe all the legal obligations, and it must not be used as a substitute for legal advice in cases of potentially unsafe products. More information about the obligations of economic operators can be found on the website of the Agency, under the heading “Legislation”.
By applying this Guide, economic operators will be able to improve consumers’ safety, to act quickly and to save the reputation of their company. Consumers’ safety should be the goal of every economic operator, and it can be achieved by applying the Guide.
