Joint regional action of surveillance of electrical products has been implemented during 2025. The action was organized with the support of GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH). This is the third joint action in a row were the participants and bearers of surveillance activities were market surveillance institutions from all CEFTA member states.

Within the joint action, extension
cords and hair dryers were controlled. The selection of the mentioned types of
products is the result of mutual agreement, considering the criteria of
prevalence and frequency of use of the electrical products, as well as types of
potential hazards that these electrical products can pose for consumers.
Market Surveillance Agency of
Bosnia and Herzegovina and the market inspections of the Republic
Administration for Inspection Affairs and Federal Administration for Inspection
Affairs have successfully implemented surveillance activities according to the
Order on electrical equipment designed for use within certain voltage limits
(Official Gazette of BiH, 98/09).
Based on visual and
administrative control, product samples were selected and subjected to
laboratory tests. The samples did not meet the prescribed safety requirements. Non-compliances
were identified that could pose risks of electric shock or fire to consumers.
Based on the assessed risk,
appropriate measures were taken. Given the severity of the electric shock and
fire risks, one extension cord model was withdrawn from the market and
destroyed (total of 72 products). The tested hair dryer model had labelling non-compliances
and as such did not pose a serious risk to consumers. However, the importer
took voluntary measures to withdraw and destroy the product (total of 4
products).
