Market Surveillance Agency of BiH started implementation of IPA 2007 Safety Infrastructure project, Bosnia and Herzegovina on November 3rd, 2009. The project will be implemented by European Profiles S.A. in consortium with Spanish Association of Standardisation and Certification (AENOR), Bulgarian Institute for Standardisation and Metrology Hellas. The main beneficiaries of the project are: Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH (components 1 and 2) and Market Surveillance Agency of BiH (component 3).

The overall objective of the project is to further develop quality and safety infrastructure in Bosnia & Herzegovina (ΒiΗ), in line with the provisions of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement (SAA), and to create an enabling environment for the BiH industries and manufacturers to improve their trade and industrial relations with the EU and international markets as well as quality of life. The amount of 1.7 million € was provided by the EU, through IPA pre-accession funds.

The results to be achieved in this project are categorised in the following components:

Component 1. Transposition and implementation of EU New Approach Directives (industrial products), Product Liability Directive, Dangerous Imitation Directive and General Product Safety Directive and support to MoFTER and line Ministries/Institutions to be able to realise its mandate in this regard.
Component 2. Establishment of Conformity Assessment System and support to the responsible institutions in becoming fully able to realise its mandate.
Component 3. Establishment of Market Surveillance System and support to the Market Surveillance Agency in becoming fully able to realise its mandate. 

The project will last for 24 months.
