MARKET SURVEILLANCE AGENCY OF BiH ORGANIZED A MEETING WITH THE REPRESENTATIVES OF THE INSPECTION BODIES OF BiH ENTITIES, IN ORDER TO IMPROVE INITIATED PROCEEDINGS OF WITHDRAWAL AND RECALL OF UNSAFE PRODUCTS

Market Surveillance Agency of BiH organized a meeting with the representatives of Market-Tourism Inspections, as well as Health and Sanitary Inspections of BiH entities, in order to coordinate and systematically implement activities of market surveillance in BiH. The meeting was held at the head office of the Agency, on January 28th, 2010.

The aim of the meeting was to present an overview of previous activities related to withdrawal and recall of unsafe products, and to determine further operational activities that are necessary to resolve cases in the future, in order to improve the process and to eliminate any ambiguities and problems in carrying out tasks of all actors of the market surveillance system in BiH.

Moreover, the participants discussed implementation of new product safety regulations - The Decision on the restriction of placing toys and childcare articles containing phthalates on the market, The Decision on the prohibition of placing consumer products containing biocide dimethylfumarate on the market, as well as the new Law on General Product Safety and the Law on Amendments to the Law on Market Surveillance in Bosnia and Herzegovina, transposing the EU Directive on dangerous imitations.

At the meeting, representatives of the Agency held presentation on the above mentioned topics, in order to introduce the inspectors to the current situation in the area of product safety and market surveillance in BiH, as well as to the new regulations. Moreover, the issues related to preparation of surveillance activities aimed at the products covered by the newly adopted regulations were also discussed at the meeting.

The participants agreed that the meeting was mutually beneficial and successful.
