PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT ON VOLUNTARY WITHDRAWAL AND RECALL OF CERTAIN MODELS OF GARMIN NAVIGATION DEVICES NÜVI

On August 27th 2010, Market Surveillance Agency of BiH received a notification from the legal representative of Garmin in BiH on voluntary withdrawal and recall of certain models of road navigation devices “nϋvi”.
The manufacturer has identified potential problems related to overheating in certain models of navigation devices “nϋvi”, with embedded batteries manufactured by a third-party supplier, between October 15th 2007 and March 28th 2008. In rare cases, these devices can overheat, which may cause fire. This problem has been identified in 8 cases out of about 1.25 million affected “nϋvi” devices sold all over the world. None of the reported incidents has caused significant property damage and no injuries have occurred. Nevertheless, Garmin is recalling the affected “nüvi” units as a precautionary measure. The recall program will provide consumers with free of charge replacement batteries at authorized Garmin service centers.
This announcement refers only to “nϋvi” devices with model numbers: 200W, 250W, 260W, 7xx and 7xxT (where xx is a two-digit number).
