Market surveillance of toys/stationery (coloured pencils) completed

Market Surveillance Agency of BiH and competent inspections of the Federation of BiH, Republic of Srpska and Brčko District of BiH completed joint market surveillance of toys/stationery (coloured pencils). 

According to the Law on General Product Safety (Official Gazette of BiH, 102/09), a manufacturer shall place only safe products on the market.

In terms of the migration of certain chemical elements, toys/stationary (coloured pencils) are considered safe if they comply with the safety requirements specified by the standard BAS EN 71-3:2020  - Safety of toys - Part 3: Migration of certain elements.

Based on the laboratory test results, competent inspections ordered the measures of withdrawal from the market and destruction of the unsafe toys, as well as informing consumers of the risks and recall of the products from end users. In total, 15,641 packages of coloured pencils were withdrawn from the market of BiH, out of which 2,015 packages were destroyed.

Surveillance activities focused on toys/stationary will be carried out continuously.
