Regional action of surveillance of electrical products has been implemented

Joint regional action of surveillance of electrical products has been implemented during 2024. The action was organized with the support of GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH). The participants and bearers of surveillance activities were market surveillance institutions from all CEFTA member states. 

During the joint action, mobile phone chargers and electric water kettles were controlled. The selection of the mentioned types of products is the result of a mutual agreement, taking into account the criteria of prevalence and frequency of use of the electrical products, as well as the type of danger that certain electrical products can pose for consumers.

Market Surveillance Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the market inspections of the Republic Administration for Inspection Affairs and Federal Administration for Inspection Affairs have successfully implemented surveillance activities according to the Order on electrical equipment designed for use within certain voltage limits (Official Gazette of BiH, 98/09).

Based on visual and administrative control, samples of mobile phone chargers and electric water kettles were selected, which were then subjected to laboratory tests. Laboratory tests showed that the samples taken did not meet the prescribed safety requirements. The tested product models pose a serious risk of electric shock to users. In accordance with the above, appropriate measures were taken. One model of electric water kettle was withdrawn from the market (total of 86 products). Also, one model of mobile phone charger was withdrawn from the market (total of 103 products) and all the affected products were destroyed.
