Representatives of Market Surveillance Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina attended a workshop on the Risk Assessment for Machinery

Representatives of Market Surveillance Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina attended the workshop: Improving Procedures for Market Surveillance on Safety of Products – Risk Assessment, on 8th – 9th October 2024. The workshop was organized by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) with the financial support of the European Commission and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. The workshop was held as a part of the regional project of the CEFTA member states Joint regional action on the safety of machinery. 

At the beginning of the workshop, a summary of the activities within the Joint regional action on the safety of machinery was made, including product sampling, a study visit to the machinery testing laboratory and the results of laboratory testing of electric drills.

During the workshop, the participants went through the theoretical and practical risk assessment procedure for non-compliant machines, including the description of non-compliances, the relation with Annex I of the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, the application of the EU RAG risk assessment method, as well as determination of hazards, risk severity, risk probability, application of sensitivity analysis and determination of the risk level.

After that, the participants were introduced to the decision-making process for taking actions and measures based on risk assessment, communication with relevant institutions and economic operators, reporting unsafe products, monitoring of actions and measures taken, as well as reporting.

On the second day of the workshop, a risk assessment was carried out for electric drills sampled during the Joint regional action on the safety of machinery, which included risk management.

The participants evaluated the workshop as useful.
