TAIEX expert mission on market surveillance of toys held in Sarajevo

TAIEX Expert Mission on market surveillance of toys made available on the market online and offline was held in Sarajevo on 22nd-23rd January 2025. The expert mission was organized under the TAIEX assistance program of the EU. Market Surveillance Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as the main project beneficiary, was a co-organizer of this event. 

This two-day event brought together 24 participants from various institutions, including representatives from all three inspectorates (from the Republic of Srpska, the Federation of BiH, and the Brčko District of BiH), the Directorate for European Integration of BiH, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH, and the Market Surveillance Agency of BiH.

The participants had the opportunity to learn about best practices and challenges in the market surveillance of toys in the EU, with the participation of experts from Belgium (Ms Maureen Logghe) and Denmark (Ms Shima Dobel). Also, representatives of the Market Surveillance Agency presented the state and surveillance practice in this field in BiH.

The aim of the expert mission is to strengthen the capacities for effective toy market control in order to protect consumers and ensure compliance with European legislation, standards and best surveillance practices.

Through expert presentations and interactive sessions, the participants analysed various aspects of the legislative framework, the implementation of legislation, and the application of standards in the field of toys and children's products safety.

The mission was an excellent opportunity for dialogue between experts from the European Union and Bosnia and Herzegovina, while also serving as a valuable platform for exchanging experiences among the competent entity inspection authorities.

This event represents an important step in further cooperation and strengthening institutional capacities in the field of market surveillance in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
