Market surveillance of soft toys completed

Market Surveillance Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina and competent inspection authorities of the Federation of BiH, Republic of Srpska and Brčko District of BiH conducted market surveillance of soft toys for the first time. According to the Law on General Product Safety (Official Gazette of BiH, 102/09), a manufacturer shall place only safe products on the market. Soft-filled toys are safe in terms of their mechanical and physical properties if they meet safety requirements specified in the BiH standard BAS EN 71-1+A1:2019 - Safety of toys - Part 1: Mechanical and physical properties.

During the implementation of market surveillance activities, 3 samples of soft toys were taken from the market of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the safety requirements have been verified in the laboratory. According to this standard, soft-filled toys with simple features intended for holding and cuddling are considered as toys intended for children under 36 months. Accordingly, the requirements related to soft toys and the requirements related to toys intended for children under 36 months were verified.

It was determined that all the tested samples met specified safety requirements from the standard BAS EN 71-1+A1:2019. Therefore, the competent inspection authorities of the BiH entities and Brčko District of BiH did not take any measures against the economic operators.
