Proactive market surveillance of floating leisure articles completed

Market Surveillance Agency of BiH and the competent inspections of the BiH entities and Brčko District of BiH completed joint market surveillance of floating leisure articles during the period from June to December 2020. 

In order to place floating leisure articles on the market of Bosnia and Herzegovina, they shall be safe in accordance with the Law on General Product Safety (Official Gazette of BiH, 102/09). Floating leisure articles - Class A are considered to be safe if they meet safety requirements specified in the standards BAS EN ISO 25649-1:2019, BAS EN ISO 25649-2:2019 and BAS EN ISO 25649-3:2019.

During the implementation of proactive surveillance, 10 models of floating leisure articles were taken from the market of Bosnia and Herzegovina and tested in the laboratory. The following non-compliances were found in 7 models: lack of appropriate information, warnings and instructions for use in one of the official languages in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In addition, one of the non-compliant products posed a serious risk of drowning, because it did not comply with the requirement related to puncture resistance specified in the standard BAS EN ISO 25649-1: 2019.
