Market Surveillance Agency of BiH and market inspections of the BiH entities and Brčko District of BiH completed joint market surveillance of combustion-engine hand-held chainsaws.

Agencija za nadzor nad tržištem BiH i tržišne inspekcije Federacije BiH, Republike Srpske i Brčko distrikta BiH su završili zajednički nadzor ručnih motornih lančanih pila. 

The main objective was to determine whether the combustion-engine hand-held chainsaws on the market of Bosnia and Herzegovina are safe to use in accordance with the Order on the safety of machinery (Official Gazette of BiH, 04/10).

During the implementation of proactive surveillance, 11 models/types of combustion-engine hand-held chainsaws were tested. It was found that 3 models/types of the chainsaws (27%) do not comply with the safety requirements of the Order on the safety of machinery and they pose a risk of injuries.

Competent inspection authorities have ordered economic operators to withdraw the products from the market temporarily until the non-compliances are removed. Economic operators removed the non-compliances in 2 models of chainsaws (total of 508 products) and destroyed 1 model (total of 27 products).
