Market surveillance of skateboards completed
01/30/2025
The main objective of the surveillance was to determine whether the skateboards that are available on the market of Bosnia and Herzegovina are safe for users. Skateboards are considered to be safe if they meet the requirements specified by the Law on General Product Safety (Official Gazette of BiH, 102/09) and the standard BAS EN 13613:2012.
In order to determine whether the skateboards meet the specified safety requirements, 7 samples of skateboards were subjected to laboratory testing, administrative verification of product labelling and information provided by the manufacturer (information about the construction of the skateboard, instructions for maintenance and repair, and instructions for use), as well as visual inspection of certain safety features.
The laboratory testing showed that 6 out of the 7 models of skateboards did not comply with the safety requirements specified by the standard BAS EN 13613:2012. As a result, 4 models of skateboards (total of 102 products) were withdrawn from the market of Bosnia and Herzegovina, because they posed a serious risk to consumers. The administrative non-compliances were removed in 2 models of skateboards (total of 131 products).
